TACOMA - Thanks to six wrestlers who won their weight classes, the Yelm Tornados claimed the team title at the 3A Narrows League sub-regional tournament at Foss High School on Saturday.
The defending state champion Tornados scored 468 points, well ahead of runner-up Timberline (249.5). Lincoln was third with 200.5 points, followed by Foss (178), Wilson (152), Bremerton (71) and Capital (55).
Jeren Hufford (112), Dylan Hyder (125), Marcus Crone (130), James Bradley (135), Anthony Alfred (152), and Tyler Wallace (215) won sub-regional titles as 18 Yelm wrestlers advance to next weekend’s 3A regional meet.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to next week’s 3A regional meet.

Timberline will send 12 wrestlers to regionals. The Blazers’ sub-regional champion is Tyler Saichompoo, who beat Wilson’s Jacob Evens, 11-4.
Timberline went 2-3-4 in the 119-pound weight class – Josh Beam, Jordan Frost and Zach Harper.
Capital’s David Griffith finished second to Bradley at 135.
SHELTON SECOND, OLYMPIA THIRD IN 4A
Shelton scored 240.5 team points, and Olympia was third at 216 at the 4A sub-regional wrestling meet at Foss High School. South Kitsap (392) won the team title.
The Highclimbers got first-place finishers from Ty McCullough (112), Jakeob Garrick (125) and Colby Barber (160).
The Bears will send six to regionals next weekend. Joel Anthony won the 215-pound division, defeating Jon Devine of Mount Tahoma, Ben Anderson of Shelton and South Kitsap’s Eddie Meisner in the finals.
Paul Kim (135), Justin Henry (189) and Tanner Wright (160) all placed second. Kevin Tran (112) and Logan Rants (160) placed fourth.
Shelton rolled 6,538 to finish in fourth place at the 4A state bowling tournament, which concluded Saturday at Narrows Plaza Bowl in Tacoma.
Emerald Ridge won its third consecutive state title.
In 3A/2A, Timberline earned sixth place (6,607), and Prairie won the team title (7,107).
