The Evergreen State College promoted Jennifer Schooler to head women’s basketball coach on Thursday, removing the interim coach tag she’d held since February following the resignation of 13-year coach Monica Heuer.
Schooler was Heuer’s assistant coach the past three seasons and in 2004-’05. Her previous head-coaching duties include Edmonds Community College (2008-’11) and the head girls coach at Deer Park High School near Spokane in 2003-‘o4.
Schooler, a Wenatchee native, is a 2002 graduate of the University of Idaho, where she ranks fifth in career assists.
Heuer, who coached the Geoducks since 2001, stepped down after guiding the team to a 14-12 record this past season to focus her efforts on her assistant athletic director duties at the college.
