Olympia’s KGY 95.3-FM, in association with A Street Investments of Olympia, will debut its new program “Red Zone Talk” a weekly high school football show, beginning this fall.
The show, hosted by The Olympian’s Meg Wochnick, airs every Friday at 8:30 a.m. starting Aug. 29.
Earlier this summer, KGY dropped its high school play-by-play coverage, but Greg Kero, founder and CEO of A Street Investments, said he wanted “to continue to give high school sports the coverage it deserves on the radio and for the community.”
“Red Zone Talk” will feature coach and player interviews, game summaries and interaction with KGY listeners.
Said Jackson Dell Weaver, general manager of KAYO/KGY radio: “KGY has been covering high school sports since its inception in 1922. But the changing environment forced us to look for new ways to be relevant. Greg stepped forward to say he wanted to support sports on KGY 95.3 for the community.
Wochnick has worked at The Olympian since 2007, and this fall marks her eighth season of covering high school football.
