The Dallas Cowboys made their first-round roster cuts Tuesday, which included former Tumwater High School standout Matt Johnson.
Johnson, a 2007 Tumwater graduate who, along with his twin brother, Zach, later starred at Eastern Washington, was plagued by hamstring and foot injuries since the Cowboys made him their fourth-round draft pick in 2012.
Johnson, a safety, did not play in an NFL regular-season game; his last action was playing 12 snaps of an August 2013 preseason game before suffering an eventual season-ending foot injury.
He recently tweaked his left hamstring during the Cowboys' training camp in late July.
The Olympian caught up with Johnson earlier this month as he prepared for his third NFL season.
