OLYMPIA -- South Puget Sound Community College promoted assistant coach Mike Moore to lead its women's basketball program, the college announced this week.
Moore, an assistant coach to Mychael Heuer since 2010, replaces Heuer, who resigned in July to focus on his personal health.
Moore had previous coaching experience at Black Hills and Olympia high schools.
“I am a product of all of my past coaches and players who have taught me an incredible amount along the way," Moore said. "I’m eager and excited to help these returning and incoming young women succeed on and off the court."
SMU baseball finalizes recruiting class
Saint Martin's baseball coach Ken Garland finalized his recruiting class this week, announcing the signing of five high school players and one junior-college transfer: Riley Moore (Sherwood, Ore.), Jonathan Pinto (Sparks, Nev.), David Bellamy (Eugene, Ore.) Cameron Mosier (Longview), Torin Dooley (Lynnwood) and Luke Hare (Tumwater High School).
Last spring, the Saints earned their first postseason berth as a Division II program and finished third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
SMU earned its first-ever postseason berth this spring in the Division II era finishing third in the GNAC and qualifying for the GNAC Championships.
