Seattle Sounders FC's final scheduled friendly before the regular season was canceled Thursday because of severe winter weather in Commerce City, Colo.
The Sounders had been scheduled to play the host Colorado Rapids in a charity game tonight.
“It’s just like the game itself: You expect one thing, and you have to be able to adapt,” coach Sigi Schmid said after the Rapids declined the Sounders’ offer to move the game to Seattle.
Barring any labor action, the season opens at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when expansion Philadelphia visits Qwest Field.
