PULLMAN -- Punter Darryl Blunt has been dismissed from the Washington State football team and safety Xavier Hicks has been suspended indefinitely, coach Paul Wulff announced Friday.

Blunt was WSU's No. 1 punter in 2006 and at the start of the 2007 season, then was suspended indefinitely by former coach Bill Doba for undisclosed disciplinary reasons.

Hicks was charged with second-degree assault for allegedly soaking teammate Grady Maxwell's contact lenses in rubbing alcohol last week. Maxwell did not wear the lenses and was not injured.

Wulff, who replaced Doba last month, continues to work overtime on recruiting with the Feb. 6 signing date for letters of intent rapidly approaching. Wulff said he expects 20 or 22 recruits to visit the WSU campus this weekend.

"The reaction (to his staff's recruiting efforts) has been great," Wulff said. "That part's all been good."
