Fastpitch

Annaleisha Parsley, senior, Timberline

If she wasn’t dominating in the circle, she was sure dominating at the plate. And most of the time, Parsley was doing both. The Class 3A Western Cascade Conference overall MVP had a 25-1 record as she helped the Blazers to their best-ever season at 26-1 and a second-place finish at the Class 3A state fastpitch tournament. She also was the team’s cleanup hitter, batting .709 with a whopping 1.291 slugging percentage. She led the team in hits (39) and was second in RBIs (25) and runs scored (22). Parsley had five home runs and only struck out once in 67 plate appearances in league play. In the pitching circle, she recorded more than 240 strikeouts (12 per game), walking only 25 while boasting a 1.90 ERA. She had nine shutouts and threw two perfect games.

“She had a spectacular season,” Timberline coach Carl Raben said. “It was fun to sit back and watch her do her thing. Not only is she a great player, but she’s a great person. I hope she goes on and does some great things.”

Boys soccer

Austin Kelley, senior, Olympia

Even though the stats don’t show it, Kelley’s style of play on the field is one of the best around. The center midfielder led Olympia to a third place finish in the Narrows League and helped the Bears to their second straight Class 4A state quarterfinals appearance. Olympia finished with a 15-6-1 record, as Kelley, a first-team all-Narrows League performer, had six goals and five assists. He will play for Saint Martin’s University next season.

“Austin is a true leader both on and off the field,” Olympia coach Ty Johnson said. “He makes everyone around him better. He is a player that puts his team before himself. He is a big reason why Olympia has been so successful over the past two seasons. Amazing soccer sense and knowledge of the game. He was definitely a pleasure to coach and watch mature over the past four years. Saint Martin’s is getting an all around complete player.”

Boys tennis

Matt Huynh, senior and David Schuster sophomore, North Thurston
