How bad is it?

Never before has the Apple Cup had a matchup with both teams having 10 losses. Here are some numbers and facts about the Huskies and Cougars to chew on — and spit out — heading into Saturday's Apple Cup:

About the Cougars

1. The Cougars have given up 533 points. Just 34 more points, and the Cougs will officially become the most generous team in major college football history.

2. Washington State is last in the nation with 35 turnovers in 11 games (The top three teams in The Associated Press Top 25 poll (Alabama, Texas Tech and Florida) have a total of 39 turnovers in 31 games).

3. The Cougars went 24 years without being shut out. This season, WSU has been shut out three times, including back-to-back games.

4. Dwight Tardy leads Washington State with 353 rushing yards. Rueben Mayes ran for 357 yards for WSU in one game in 1984.

5. The Cougars have tied the school record of 10 losses. WSU’s last four bowl teams lost a total of 10 games.

About the Huskies

1. Ty Willingham has won 11 games in four years as Washington’s coach. Don James won 12 games in 1991 as coach of the undefeated Huskies.

2. Washington has given up at least 27 points every game. When the Huskies went undefeated from 1908- 16, they never gave up more than 20 points in a season.

3. If the Huskies lose Saturday, they’ll finish last in the Pac-10 for the fourth time in five years. Prior to 2004, Washington had finished last a total of six times since the conference was formed in 1916.

4. Terrance Dailey leads the Huskies with 246 rushing yards. Washington’s season leader hasn’t rushed for fewer yards since 1953.

5. The Huskies have tied the school record of 10 losses. Washington lost a total of nine games from 1989-92, when all four teams finished in the Top 25.
