KELSO — For the second straight year, a Keith Stottlemyre-coached youth baseball team is heading to a World Series.

The Thurston County 13-year-old All-Stars avenged their lone loss of the Babe Ruth 13-year-old Northwest Regional tournament to Josephine County with a 7-6, nine-inning win over the same team in the title game Friday night in Kelso.

With the win, Thurston County is headed to the Babe Ruth World Series on Aug. 16-23 in Jamestown, N.Y. Six players from the Thurston County team advanced to the Cal Ripken World Series last year as 12-year-olds, with Stottlemyre as their coach.

Thurston County finished the regional tournament at 5-1.
