JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jake Biscay led the Thurston County All-Stars to a 9-6 victory over Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday at the Babe Ruth World Series for 13-year-olds.

Thurston County, the champion of the Pacific Northwest region, improved to 1-1 in pool play and will face North Syracuse, N.Y., at 2:30 p.m. today.

Biscay got the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs — one earned. He walked two and struck out five.

Biscay also hit an RBI triple and scored two runs for Thurston County, which built a 7-1 lead and held on despite a four-run rally in the seventh and final inning by the Ohio Valley champions.

Ande Grantham went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and he pitched out of a no-out jam in the seventh to earn the save.
