Early Learning expands Web site offerings
The state Department of Early Learning launched its new Web site last week, featuring more information on topics including child development, licensed child care and early learning partnerships around the state.
Among the new features on the site is a section called "What Have You Done to Help a Child Today?" designed to gather information from members of the public on what they've done to help children in their daily lives.
Early Learning selected Ramp Group of Bellevue to help design the new site. The design and content are based on comments from parents, child care providers, members of the Early Learning Advisory Council and Early Learning staff members.
You can find the new site at www.del.wa.gov.
Interim deaf-school chief officially hired
Gov. Chris Gregoire has appointed Richard Hauan to be superintendent of the Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver, Wash.
Gregoire named Hauan interim superintendent in September. He had been serving as assistant superintendent since July 2004.
Hauan joined the School for the Deaf after serving as director of special programs for the Anacortes School District, director of special education for the Oak Harbor School District, and special education teacher for Oak Harbor High School.
Founded in 1886, the School for the Deaf provides educational and residential services for eligible children through age 21. It also provides consultation and outreach services to school districts throughout the state.
