THE OLYMPIAN
The enrollment period for state workers lasts until Nov. 30, during which time employees can change their medical and dental plans.
Any changes will take effect Jan. 1.
The average employee will pay $91 aper month in 2009, up $12 from last year, according to the agency. On average, employees pay 12 percent of their coverage.
There are no major plan changes, but the most popular plan — the Uniform Medical Plan — will drop slightly. About half of the approximately 50,000 public workers in Thurston County subscribe to Uniform Medical.
No new plans are offered and none have been eliminated.
The next big changes could be in 2010, when the Health Care Authority is considering having a private company manage the Uniform Medical Plan.
