An event Thursday at the Capitol will mark the 50th anniversary of the Evergreen State Platoon, when young men from Washington joined the Marine Corps and trained together.
The event begins at 2 p.m. with a gathering in the Capitol Rotunda. It will be followed by a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial featuring a rifle salute at 3 p.m.
Organizers expect about 200 people to attend the event.
The Evergreen State Platoon was sworn in during a 1968 ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda.
