On the heels of The Who’s 50th anniversary tour comes the Scorpions.
The hard-rocking band from Deutschland is bringing their 50th Anniversary World Tour to ShoWare Center on Oct. 9, the center announced Monday. Queensrÿche will be along for the ride.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24. Tickets are $34.50, $49.50 and $69.50 and can be purchased at the ShoWare Center box office from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, by calling 866-973-9613, or at ShoWareCenter.com.
The Scorpions are still recording music. Their latest studio album, “Return To Forever,” is just out.
Rudolf Schenker founded the band in post-World War II Hanover, Germany. He and Klaus Meine were influenced by the culture of American GIs who were flooding the country. Along with chewing gum and blue jeans, that included American rock ’n’ roll.
The lineup today has Meine (vocals), Schenker (guitar), Matthias Jabs (guitar), James Kottak (drums) and Pawel Maciwoda (bass).
As of Monday evening the Scorpions website did not list the ShoWare Center concert or any other U.S. shows past Oct. 7.
