Art needed to cover traffic control boxes in downtown and west Olympia

The City of Olympia is seeking as many as 20 art designs to be applied to vinyl wraps to cover traffic control boxes in downtown and west Olympia.

The city will pay a $500 honorarium for each of the selected designs.

Here’s the process: Artists will submit concept designs by 5 p.m. May 28 using supplied templates available at http://olympiawa.gov/city-services/parks/public-art/traffic-box-wrap. Designs will then be made available online at olyspeaks.org for a public vote to determine the 20 to be used.

Selected artist designs — which can be prepared as illustrations, paintings, computer designed images, quilts, mosaics, photographed sculptures or photographs — will be printed on to a vinyl wrap, and applied to the traffic boxes. The city plans to remove the wraps after 2-3 years, depending on their condition.
