Low clouds hung over many ski areas bothering skiers and snowboaders with an unpleasant mix of wet snow and rain this week.
Some ski areas – Crystal Mountain and Stevens Pass – were among ski areas that either limited or considered limiting operations because of rain.
However, the weather seems to be taking a turn for the better for powder lovers.
The National Weather Service is forecasting snow today through Tuesday in the Cascades.
The improved weather comes just in time.
The Summit at Snoqualmie is holding two terrain park events this weekend. Jib This, a snowboard event, on Saturday and Jib That, for skiers, on Sunday. Registration for both starts at 9 a.m. at the Summit Central Lodge. Helmets are required and participants 18 and younger need permission from their parents.
Crystal Mountain is scheduled to test the new Mount Rainier Gondola on Monday and the new lift could open as early as next week.
