The mountains are packed with plenty of snow for skiers and snowboarders, but the forecast isn't entirely promising for the weekend. The National Weather Service is calling for rain on Snoqualmie Pass through Tuesday.
Crystal Mountain, which received 14 inches of snow Wednesday, is about 1,000 feet higher than Snoqualmie Pass but the forecast is only a bit more promising. Snow is predicted Saturday, but rain is forecast below 7,000 feet Sunday.
Rain is predicted throughout the weekend for White Pass.
• The Summit at Snoqualmie has yet to establish an opening date for Summit East. The ski area is installing two new lifts and hopes to reopen the ski area for the first time since a landslide forced the closure of the ski area in January 2009.
“Just a few more parts of the electrical system to go and that chair is complete,” the ski area said on its website this week. “It is still difficult to give a definite opening date, but we are reasonably confident it will be sometime in the last ten days of January.”
