Name: Patricia Caturia. Age: 23. City: Lacey.
Activities: Caturia volunteers at the West Thurston Fire District One where she manages the new recruits from application through the academy. Caturia also runs her own photography business, enjoys spending time with her family, and loves baking and playing tennis.
This volunteer is special because: “Patricia is our volunteer who makes sure all the t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted for those entering the PACT program (pre-firefighter volunteer program). She brings technology to us, and is an advocate for people when they aren’t sure where to go. She makes sure they have what they need to start their professional volunteering position. We don’t know what we would do without her!” said Lanette Dyer of West Thurston Fire District One.
Volunteering is important to this volunteer because: “I think that if enough people do something positive, we can change the world. That may sound overly idealistic, but anyone who spares time, whether it be just a little or a lot, provides one tiny step in the right direction. You never really know who you’ll meet, impact, or be impacted by, so why not take the chance?” said Caturia.
