Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising activities for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. In Olympia, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients such as Jessica Cross, a local girl who was diagnosed with renal CRI and chronic kidney disease. Individuals and groups interested in assisting can contact Dawn Harrison at 360-754-1757. Donations are accepted online at www.cotaforjessicalynnc.com.

The ERma & Robert Shumate Guild of Olympia’s annual garage sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 315 Z St. E., Tumwater. The sale benefits the children and families served by Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma. Call 360-352-5058.

Shop ‘N’ Kart/Yard Birds Benefit Golf tournament will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Newaukum Valley Golf Course, 153 Newaukum Golf Drive., Chehalis. Door prizes, golf and food will be featured at this 18-hole, four-person scramble tournament. Registration starts at 11 a.m. Cost is $50 per person and proceeds benefit local youth golf programs. “have a heart” golf tournament and auction will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at Capitol City Golf Course, 5225 Yelm Highway S.E., Olympia. The fundraiser hopes to increase awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, and to raise funds for a heart transplant for Nate Gunderson. For details, go to www.g2folio.com/heart.htm.
