This volunteer is special because: “Bob has been on the department fire investigation team for three years. He has always made himself available to investigate structure fires in our district and neighboring districts even though he has a full-time job with another company. Recently, Bob became a national certified fire investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. This honor is due to the time and training commitment Bob put in on his own time,” said Capt. Gary Stone of West Thurston Fire District.

Volunteering is important to this volunteer because: “It’s just in my personality to help people. People need us. ... The feeling of someone saying ‘thank you’ is worth more than any amount of money,” Maser said.

Maser will receive a plaque from the Volunteer Center and KGY Radio, courtesy of Deer Creek Awards, a division of Color Graphics.
