Lacey woman's photo wins editor's award

A Lacey woman's image of a yearling bear cub on the Glacier Basin Trail won an editor's choice award in the seventh Northwest Exporsure Contest.

Michelle Isaacson’s photo also appeared on the back cover of the Washington Trails Association magazine.

Jason Hummel from Tacoma took second place in the Washington Trails Association’s annual photo contest with his image of a pasque flower.

Other photographers earning honors were Jeff Goulden of Edgewood, who won an honorable mention in the Hikers in Action category for his shot of a toddler hiking near Bumping Lake.

L. Lisa Lawrence of Tacoma won an editor’s choice for her shot of a Steller’s Jay at Mount Rainier.

The grand prize winner was an image by Seattle resident Misao Okada of lupine covered with drops of morning dew on Green Mountain.

The contest received more than 750 entries in five categories: Hikers in Action, Wilderness Landscapes, Flora & Fauna, Offbeat Outdoors and Young Photographers. You can see the winners of the 2009 contest as a slideshow at www.flickr.com/photos/29468641@N04/sets/72157623014404562.
