Dave Wagner wants people to explore the Hood Canal area. That's the premise of his business, Hood Canal Adventures.
This summer, teaming with Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce and North Mason Chamber of Commerce, Wagner will stage a two-day geocaching event leading people to spots around the canal.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt that uses GPS coordinates to lead people to hidden boxes that often contain trinkets.
The event is scheduled for June 27-28. There will be 30 caches hidden for the Sunday event and another 20 on that Monday.

The caches will be set up just for this event. Alderbrook Resort will be the starting point each day.
“The idea is for everybody to see the beauty of Mason County, Hood Canal and the surrounding area,” Wagner said. “We want to show off Mason County as to how beautiful it is.”
Hood Canal Adventures has been doing geocache events for three years, especially for businesses looking for team-building activities.
“We’re trying to promote the local community, the local businesses, the beauty of the area and what makes it unique,” he said.
“We’re really excited about this. We want to make it an annual event.”
Wagner said there will be prizes for the people who find the most caches, as well as prizes in the individual caches.People interested in volunteering should contact Hood Canal Adventures at 360-898-2628.
