This is the best cheesecake in Thurston County, according to results from our reader poll
We asked readers which Thurston County bakery had the best cheesecake, and the votes are in.
The poll had seven options including local favorites in Thurston County such as Mason’s Cheesecake Co., San Francisco Street Bakery, The Nom Nom Stop and Wagner’s European Bakery & Cafe. The poll received 129 votes total.
Winning with 83 votes was The Nom Nom Stop.
The Nom Nom Stop serves cheesecake in a less traditional way, on a stick.
Cheesecake on a stick is available in 14 flavors including PB & J, English toffee, pistachio, cookies and cream and strawberry. The cheesecakes are covered in toppings, such as their peachissimo cheesecake on a stick that is covered in white chocolate, peach ganache and vanilla wafers.
The Nom Nom Stop is a family-owned and operated business, owned by Gabriela Gheorghieu and her husband, Tiberio Serbanescu.
“This business is not about us, this is about the community. Our community is very positive towards us, and we feel this everyday. We want to treat clients exactly how we would like to be treated. My wife and I have promised each other to make a honest environment for our customers and to have work be a happy place, and start every day with a smile,” Serbanescu said.
All cheesecake slices come dipped in Belgian chocolate, which Serbanescu believes is why the store is so popular in the community.
“We make no compromises with ingredients and practices. My wife is the artist, she makes all the Belgian chocolate in the house, homemade,” Serbanescu said.
One customer favorite, Serbanescu said, is the Italian Night cheesecake that “is a journey from dark to light Belgian chocolate,” and is topped with a signature ganache made in the shop.
The Nom Nom Stop also serves other desserts such as handcrafted chocolates, jar cakes and artisan fudge.
The Nom Nom Stop is open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The shop is located in Lacey at 1107 College St. SE in Suite C.
In second place with 13 votes was Wagner’s European Bakery & Cafe.
Wagner’s serves desserts such as donuts, bagels, danishes, breads and muffins, but is also known for its lunch options that include grilled and cold sandwiches.
The shop is open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and is located at 1013 Capitol Way SE in Olympia.
In third place was the “other” option with 11 votes, followed by Phoebe’s Pastry Cafe, San Francisco Street Bakery, Mason’s Cheesecake Co. and 8 Arms Community Bakery.
