Shorelines class open to public

Learn about landslide warning signs, natural beach processes, coastal geology and other shoreline issues at a class offered by Washington State University Extension on Feb. 15 at the Squaxin Island Tribal Museum.

The course, which is open to the public, is accredited for all real estate professionals, including appraisers, for 7.5 clock hours. It will include a field trip.

Registration fee is $120 for those seeking clock hours, and $80 for the general public.

Garden clubs travel to Seattle show

The Black Hills District of Garden Clubs is organizing its annual one-day bus trip to the Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle.

The bus will leave South Sound Center in Lacey near Sears at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 14. It should arrive back in Lacey by 5 p.m.

To reserve your space and a ticket to the show, send a check for $42 per person (payable to the Black Hills District) to Debby Minton, 7515 Shorewood Ct. S.E., Olympia, WA 98503. Please include the names of guests on your check.

The deadline is Feb. 5. For more information, call Minton at 360-456-1635 or e-mail inktvis@aol.com.

Fruit society hosts speaker at event

Dr. Roger Eichman will demonstrate grafting and use of the Montrose Apricot during the next South Sound Fruit Society meeting, 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Barn Nursery, 9510 Old Highway 99 S.E., Olympia.
