Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men and a male juvenile Monday on suspicion of attempted residential burglary at a Johnson Point-area home, an official said today.

Edward Lawrence Newsome, 20, of Olympia; Capre Javon Washington, 18, of Lacey; and the 17-year-old juvenile, also from Olympia, were arrested for reportedly trying to enter a home on the 5600 block of Johnson Point Road N.E. shortly before 1 p.m., Lt. Chris Mealy said.

The 51-year-old male resident was home but told deputies he opted not to answer the door when one of the men knocked on his front door. He said he saw a van he didn’t recognize parked in his driveway.

After the man walked back to the van and came back to the door a second time, the resident said the three split up and attempted to enter the home from a sliding glass door in the back of the house and a garage door panel.

The intruders attempted to flee when deputies arrived, Mealy said. Two were arrested at the scene. The third was arrested shortly afterward following further investigation.

The two adults are being held at the Thurston County Jail. The juvenile was brought to the Youth Services Center.
