Trees, ships, toys part of holiday scene

Here are some of the holiday events planned in South Sound.

Rotunda tree lighting: The annual lighting event for the holiday tree in the Capitol Rotunda is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.

City of Lacey Lighting of the Christmas Tree: 6 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Huntamer Park, corner of Woodland Square Loop and Seventh Avenue, Lacey. Call 360-491-0857.

Parade of Lighted Ships: 6 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday starting at Percival Landing in downtown Olympia. The theme of this year’s nautical parade is “A Special Holiday Tradition.” For information, call 360-352-7628 or visit www.olympiayachtclub.org.

32nd annual Olympia Toy Run: Gates open at 10 a.m., and the parade leaves for the Capitol at 1 p.m. Saturday, South Sound Center parking lot, 651 Sleater-Kinney Road S.E., Lacey. Admission is a new toy or $10 per person or $15 per couple. Visit www.olytoyrun.com.

2009 Holiday Tour of Historic Homes: From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, six historic houses in Olympia will be open for tours. Tickets are $15. For information, call 360-753-1215 or go to www. bigelowhouse.org.
