Woman hit by car dies from injuries

A Centralia woman has died from injuries suffered in a one-car crash last month in Centralia, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Also according to the patrol:

Krystal Baumelpoenitsch, 20, of Rochester was driving a 1993 Saturn four-door vehicle south on Harrison Avenue at 5:38 p.m. Nov. 18. Her vehicle struck Staci McClain, 33, of Centralia, who was walking in the northbound shoulder on Harrison.

McClain was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with head trauma and a broken leg. Baumelpoenitsch and her passenger, Jennifer Benn, 16, of Rochester, were not injured.

The cause of the accident was deemed to be a pedestrian in the roadway. No charges will be filed.
