Union employees in the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office have offered up enough concessions to avoid further layoffs in their department, according to The Daily World of Aberdeen.
County Commissioner Al Carter declined Friday to go into the specifics, which will be up for approval by the county commissioners Monday, but he said the union and the commissioners had reached a “tentative agreement” with the Teamsters Union that allows employees to make concessions to save jobs.
The full 2010 budget also is set for approval Monday, with a public hearing set for 2 p.m. at the County Administration Building in Montesano.
The county commissioners have authorized the layoffs of 15 county employees, including longtime Jail Superintendent Dave Christensen.
