A 19-year-old Centralia man will not face felony charges after being arrested Tuesday for carrying an improvised explosive device while entering Centralia Municipal Court, according to The Chronicle of Centralia.
Caleb Brown was arrested after court security found several firecrackers taped together with electric tape and connected with a single fuse. He was released Wednesday afternoon from the Lewis County Jail.
The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office will not charge Brown with a felony count of unlawful possession of an explosive device, Centralia police detective Sgt. Patrick Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said he doesn’t think Brown intended to bring the explosive to court. Brown did not have an ignition source when he was arrested, Fitzgerald said. Brown still could face a charge of possession of unlawful fireworks.
