Offender registers as transient in county

Level 2 sex offender Robert U.L. Ensign has registered indicating that he plans to live in Thurston County as a transient, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

Ensign pleaded guilty Dec. 4, 2000, in Thurston County Juvenile Court to one count of first-degree child rape and was sentenced to 15 to 36 of weeks confinement, with credit for 45 days served. The conviction stems from Ensign, at 11, sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy he knew.

Ensign, 21, is described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches and 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
