Morton High school teacher appeals firing

Morton High School teacher Michael R. Moulton, 55, is appealing his termination after he pleaded guilty via an Alford plea to four counts of assault in response to claims of inappropriate touching, according to The Chronicle of Centralia.

A female student and her parents filed a complaint against Moulton, saying he rubbed and touched students’ shoulders despite continued demands that he stop.

Moulton was sentenced to 20 days in the Lewis County Jail and put on administrative leave. He still is on paid administrative leave from the Morton School District while a hearing officer decides whether his firing was valid. A court date is set for Jan. 8 in Lewis County Superior Court to assign Moulton a hearing officer.
