Montesano man faces vehicular homicide charge

After a five-month investigation, the Pacific County Prosecutor's Office has filed a vehicular-homicide charge against a Montesano man for allegedly striking two bicyclists and killing one in July, according to The Daily World of Aberdeen.

Deputy Prosecutor David Bustamante said he filed a negligent-driving charge against 51-year-old Gregory Cedell this month in the death of Carolyn Girod, 31, of Cambridge, Mass.

A State Patrol report described Cedell’s crime as a type of aggravated negligence, alleging his box van drifted across a state Route 105 fog line and struck the bicyclists July 8 north of Raymond. Rider Nils J. Sorenson, 34, also of Cambridge, received minor injuries when he was knocked down an embankment.

Investigators found no evidence of alcohol or drugs in Cedell’s system, according to the reports.
