Supervisors sought for conservation district

The Thurston Conservation District Board of Supervisors is seeking candidates interested in serving as a volunteer Conservation District supervisor.

These positions are members of a volunteer five-person Board of Supervisors, who serve without compensation and are responsible for setting and maintaining overall district policies and programs regarding the management and conservation of natural resources within the district. Nominees must be registered voters and a Thurston County landowner or operator of a farm within the Thurston Conservation District boundaries.

Candidate information and nominating petitions for the elected position are due at the District Office Jan. 23. The election is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 20 at the District Office. Absentee ballots will be available Feb. 1-19 by contacting the District Office. Applications for the appointed position are due to the Washington State Conservation Commission by March 31.
