Providence St. Peter Hospital will have expanded surgical capacity beginning Monday, according to a news release.
That’s when two new surgical suites will open, bringing the hospital’s number of working operating rooms to 11. The expansion includes space for two more operating rooms and a post-anesthesia care unit in the future.
The expansion originally was part of a $40 million campus development plan to add operating rooms, expand the Emergency Department and add acute care beds. Providence Health & Services put the project on hold because of economic concerns but announced in March that it was able to secure $13 million for the operating room expansion.
Construction began in the spring and was completed in December.
