The Thurston County Sheriff's Office is notifying the public that Level 3 sex offender James L. Willburn has registered indicating that he will live in the 16000 block of 161st Avenue Southeast. According to court records:
Willburn was charged Aug. 2, 1978, in Thurston County Superior Court with first-degree statutory rape and pleaded guilty Dec. 19, 1978, to a charge of second-degree statutory rape. He was given a five-year deferred sentence and treatment. This conviction stems from Willburn, at 18, sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl he didn’t know. He also disclosed other cases of sexually abusing children.
He pleaded guilty Sept. 25, 2000, in King County Superior Court to a charge of first-degree attempted rape of a child and two counts of first-degree child molestation. The conviction stems from Willburn sexually assaulting two girls, ages 6 and 10, over a period of several years.
Willburn, 49, is described as white, 6 feet and 180 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.
