Officer injured trying to break up fight

Two Olympia men were booked Saturday into the Thurston County Jail after they allegedly assaulted a Thurston County sheriff's deputy Saturday morning.

The deputy, Jeff Wilkerson, was treated for a minor back injury at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and released, patrol Sgt. Tim Rudloff said. Also according to Rudloff:

About 2 a.m. Saturday, Wilkerson was dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Larkspur Drive, responding initially to a fight between a father and son. When he arrived, Wilkerson found several people fighting in the front yard. He attempted to break up the fight but was assaulted by two men and fell, injuring his back. Wilkerson later chased the two men into the residence and made the arrest.

Hurricanetusi Penitusi, 19, and Tuituiotoga Maae, 21, were arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, Rudloff said. An adult and a juvenile male also were arrested for outstanding warrants; their names were not immediately available.
