Dive teams Sunday morning recovered the body of a 20-year-old Algona man who jumped from a Sumner Tapps Highway bridge into Lake Tapps Saturday night.
The body of Charley Sing was found around 10:30 a.m., in 35 feet of water, about 40 feet from the overpass bridge, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.
The man was in a car with friends around 7:45 p.m. when they stopped at the bridge. Detectives believe that the group made the 20- to 25-foot dive into the water, Troyer said. Sing reportedly disappeared after struggling.
There is a sign at the bridge warning against jumping.
