BELLINGHAM - A man was arrested for allegedly brandishing a pistol and firing a shot into the ground during a fight Friday afternoon, Aug. 20, in the 2900 block of Lynn Street.
No one was seriously hurt in the incident, and two people have been arrested, according to Bellingham police.
Tyler Visser and Martha Visser were driving past Tyler's ex-girlfriend's house on Lynn Street when they pulled over at about 1:30 p.m. and began yelling at her and got into a confrontation, said police Lt. Bill Slodysko.
Martha Visser began punching and assaulting the ex-girlfriend, who fell to the ground but continued to be hit, Slodysko said.

Another woman present tried to intervene and pull Martha Visser away, but Tyler Visser grabbed the woman, wrapped his arm around her throat and put the pistol to her head, Slodysko said.
He then stepped away and fired one shot into the ground. Martha Visser and Tyler Visser then fled in their car, but were arrested nearby on suspicion of first- and fourth-degree assault, Slodysko said.
Tyler Visser was booked into the Whatcom County Jail. Martha Visser hadn't been booked as of Friday evening because she may have been receiving treatment at St. Joseph hospital, Slodysko said.
Slodysko wasn't sure of the extent of the ex-girlfriend's injuries, but said they weren't serious.
