Mom's vodka may have fueled dangerous teen party

Spokane police believe the suspect's mom may have supplied vodka to a party where a 14-year-old girl was stabbed and raped.

The mother, 41-year-old Andrienna L. McDaniel, told The Spokesman-Review she felt it was safer to supply the teenagers with alcohol at home.

Police were called to the apartment on Aug. 21 to investigate intoxicated teenagers and girl bleeding.

McDaniel told police she had purchased alcohol for her son and his friends. She said she was in the apartment some of the time while the kids were drinking.

A 15-year-old boy, who admitted to kissing the girl and has not been charged with a crime, passed a polygraph test but police say he wrote on his MySpace page that he threw the knife in the river.

McDaniel says her son has written a letter of apology to the girl and she has written a letter of apology to the girl's mother.
