Armed man robs mini-mart in Tacoma's West End

A man armed with a gun robbed a West End mini mart this morning, the Tacoma Police Department reported.

The robbery occurred around 5:40 a.m. at Taggers Mini Mart, 6615 S. 12th St. The robber wielded a gun and took money and cash from the store, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The suspect left the store on foot. Officers set up a perimeter in the area and a police dog conducted a track. The dog did not find the suspect, Fulghum said.

The suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet 8. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, Fulghum said.

Officers looked at the surveillance video of the robbery. The incident didn't appear to be related to robberies at Tacoma convenience stores on Monday or Tuesday, Fulghum said.
