Man struck, killed by Amtrak train in Sumner

A man has been struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Sumner, between Seattle and Tacoma.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas tells The Seattle Times that the man stepped behind a southbound Sound Transit commuter train and onto the adjacent track, where he was hit by the northbound passenger train.

The Friday evening accident delayed Sound Transit's Sounder trains from Seattle to Tacoma, and buses were sent to pick up passengers at the Sumner and Auburn stations.
