Man arrested after attempted child luring incident at Tacoma bowling alley

Tacoma police arrested a 56-year-old man Wednesday night on suspicion of trying to lure a 3-year-old girl at a Sixth Avenue bowling alley.

The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of child luring.

The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at Tower Lanes, 6323 Sixth Ave. The girl's father told Tacoma police that he had spotted the suspect wandering around the bowling alley, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The man appeared to be very intoxicated.

At one point, the father looked over and saw the suspect squatting down next to the little girl. He was telling her to come with him and that "Mommy's in the car," Fulghum said.

The father ran over and pushed the suspect away from his daughter. The suspect walked out of the bowling alley and across the street to a nearby restaurant. A witness followed him, Fulghum said.

The suspect was arrested a short time later at the restaurant. The girl was not injured.
