Not guilty plea in rape at Covington home

A man accused of raping a woman in Covington and attempting to rape a woman in Seattle pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment in King County Superior Court in Kent.

KOMO News reports 20-year-old Phillip D. Baldwin is accused of tackling a woman Sept. 22 in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. The attacker fled when a neighbor heard the woman's screams.

In the Sept. 30 rape, Baldwin is accused of tricking the Covington woman into letting him into her home by saying he was a high school student working on a project. Investigators say he threatened to harm the woman's children unless she cooperated.
