Franklin Pierce teacher investigated for inappropriate behavior

A Franklin Pierce High School teacher is on paid administrative leave while the Pierce County Sheriff's office investigates allegations that he inappropriately touched a 15-year-old female student.

School district spokesman Willie Painter said the student came to school officials Tuesday with the allegation. They contacted law enforcement, and the 48-year-old teacher was placed on leave.

“We take all allegations of this type very seriously,” he said. “We are going to wait to see what bears out in the investigation.”

Painter said the teacher has been teaching for a number of years, but that he is “fairly new” to Franklin Pierce schools.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said Wednesday morning that witnesses were being interviewed, but that no arrest had been made.
