Kent couple arrested on suspicion of identification theft

Kent Police and the Valley SWAT team served a search warrant today at an east Kent apartment and arrested a man and women there in connection with a prescription forgery ring.

The warrant was served at the Birch Creek Apartments, 12953 S.E. 275th St., at 10 a.m. The search of the couple's apartment is ongoing, Kent police said this afternoon.

While investigating a recent prescription forgery, police identified the alleged source of the forged prescription as a 33-year-old Kent man. Officers learned that a counterfeiting operation was run from the man’s apartment and that he was a convicted felon in possession of at least one firearm.

Due to the presence of the firearm and the suspect’s history of violent crime, police surrounded the residence, evacuated neighboring apartments, and then used a police negotiator to call the suspect and his house mate. The pair exited without incident.

Police say they have recovered an extensive amount of evidence relating to alleged forgeries and identification theft. They also found two guns.

Both suspects are being held in the Kent Corrections Center.
