Washington couple rescued after car plunges into water

EVERETT, Wash. – A fire marshal says two cars accidentally ended up in the chilly waters off Everett's waterfront Wednesday evening after a family apparently got lost trying to find a restaurant - but everyone is safe.

Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson says port security crews and a Mountlake Terrace couple's son broke a window in the couple's car and pulled them to safety after they drove off the 10th Street boat launch.

While their son was trying to help them, his empty car slid down the slick boat launch into the water as well.

Robinson told the Daily Herald that the son cut his hand breaking the window. He says the family was taken to a hospital to be checked but no one appeared to have serious injuries. The family was not identified.
