U.S. Route 2 is closed in both directions at milepost 44.3 near Skykomish until further notice due to a landslide that occurred early Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation:
"The landslide is likely caused by heavy rains in the area. The highway will reopen when crews clear the roadway of debris and water. There is no detour. Drivers can avoid the closure using local roads or by taking I-90. "
WSDOT's estimate as to when the roadway would be cleared was listed as 'unknown' as of 5 this morning.
