Enumclaw girl fatally shot is identified

The King County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a 16-year-old Enumclaw girl who died Saturday of a gunshot wound to the arm as Kelsey Carter.

Sheriff’s investigators are still trying to determine whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.

Kelsey was reported as a runaway in late October. Her mother called deputies Saturday night after she spotted her daughter smoking on the deck of a home in the 33900 block of Southeast Green River Headworks Road.

Three men inside the home – including Kelsey’s 25-year-old boyfriend - refused to let deputies inside but said Kelsey wasn’t there.

They later drove the girl to Enumclaw Community Hospital in a truck. She died en route to the hospital.
