Hazmat teams respond to leak at UW lab

A Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman says hazmat teams have responded to a University of Washington applied physics lab after a reported release of a small amount of fluorine gas.

Lt. Sue Stangl said the leak in a first-floor lab at Henderson Hall was reported late Friday afternoon.

The Seattle Times says the fire department was told that approximately two to three cubic centimeters of gas escaped. Stangl says the gas is highly hazardous.
